Intrigues, wheeling dealing - movers and shakers - within the Daimler-World nothing seemed impossible. Will the new executive chairman Dieter Zetsche unencumberedly face the new challenge to reorganize the concern?
In the mean time, Public Prosecution Service investigates DaimlerChrysler. 'Graesslin is the key figure within the operation, that leaded to large-scale crackdown', wrote the Stuttgarter Zeitung. The accusation: Suspicion of insider dealing. But that's not all. In the course of his enquiries Juergen Graesslin encountered a systematic working Grey Market Business, and there are indications that top managers are involved in these deals. 'Daimler-Disaster' is a story of arrogance of the powers, a didactic play of megalomania. Finally Juergen Graesslin tells about how a management conducted by unbridled ambition and overestimation of its own capabilities wants it all and loses almost everything. It’s up to the stockholders, the employees and the clients to suffer the loss.
Jürgen Grässlin, born in 1957, living in Freiburg, made his mark as author of the only Schrempp-biography and of several books on the car- and armaments industry. He is national spokesman of the Deutsche Friedensgesellschaft - Vereinigte KriegsdienstgegnerInnen (DFG-VK) [german peace-association – united war resisters], spokesman of the Kritische AktionärInnen DaimlerChrysler (KADC) [critical stockholders DaimlerChrysler], spokesman of the Deutsches Aktionsnetz Kleinwaffen Stoppen (DAKS) [german network stop/against small arms] and member of the board of the RüstungsInformationsBüro (RIB e.V.) [bureau for information on armament]; further memberships: amnesty international (ai), attac, Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft (GEW) [union for education and scholarship] und Verkehrsclub Deutschland (VCD); Parteiaustritt Bündnis90/DieGrünen [withdrawal from party] Bündnis90/DieGrünen.
